The £6bn upfront cash injection is clearly good news

Comments on the Chancellor’s Healthcare announcements today:

“The £6bn upfront cash injection is clearly good news.  It is badly needed as front line services continue to face severe challenges. This funding must be used to spark innovation and new ways of working rather than simply offsetting the deficit.

“The £22bn efficiency saving challenge remains a major headache – this cannot be achieved without rethinking how and where healthcare is delivered, with a focus on technology and prevention.

“The additional £1.5bn for better care fund is important and will need to be split between NHS and Local Government to stimulate new care models going forward.”
