Mental health funding

Joanna Killian, Head of Local Government at KPMG comments on the Chancellor’s announcement on mental health funding.

“The £600m extra for mental health services is a welcome boost. For too long, these services have been underfunded.

“Securing good mental and physical wellbeing, especially for children and young people, is essential to enable all of us to live successful, happy and productive lives.  We know, for example, that early access to high quality talking therapies can be transformative for those in a crisis but demand is high and waiting lists long.

“Let's hope this additional cash starts to plug the gap and accelerates the transformation in services and support that is so urgently required."
