KPMG Restructuring to expand its offering to Midlands

Small and mid-tier businesses across the region are still facing financial difficulties and challenging markets.

KPMG’s Restructuring practice in the Midlands has today announced the launch of a dedicated SME team to provide specialist advice and support to small and mid-tier businesses across the region, which, despite a recovering economy, are still facing financial difficulties and challenging markets.

The launch of the team builds on the successful launch of KPMG’s Enterprise practice in October 2014, which saw the professional services firm expand its service offerings to the growing network of 4.9 million privately-owned businesses across the UK.

Led by director Chris Pole, the Restructuring SME team is committed to assisting companies and their stakeholders who are struggling to improve cash flows or deal with profitability issues. These situations require strong cash and stakeholder management, strategy and options appraisals and the management of radical change, all of which will be offered by the team.

Chris said: “The SME market has always been at the heart of our Restructuring practice and the decision to invest in additional resource and develop tailored offerings to those smaller, privately owned businesses is perfectly aligned to KPMG Enterprise.

“We have countless examples of already having worked with businesses in the SME space and a fantastic track record of delivering solutions and real value in what can often be the most difficult and stressful of situations.  We want to extend our reach in this area of the market by combining our brand and expertise at a price that smaller businesses can afford; to offer more, but at a competitive price to the market”.

Mark Orton, Head of Restructuring for KPMG in the Midlands, added: “Enterprise is the biggest investment KPMG has made in the private capital market in the past 30 years. By extending our Restructuring focus and services to better access those companies who form the ‘S’ of ‘SME’ we can draw upon the best of our people and expertise to provide value for money advice to companies across the region.”
