Professional services firm KPMG has become the latest patron of the East Midlands Chamber (Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire).

KPMG employs around 1,400 people in the Midlands, with around 14,000 UK-wide, and provides services in audit, tax, and advisory across a vast range of sectors.

The firm has two offices in the East Midlands, in Nottingham and Leicester, with a long history as a major employer in both cities. Offering expert advice to local, regional and national clients from its East Midlands’ hubs, KPMG’s team helps businesses from small to large to run smoothly and effectively, understand their marketplace, and plan for and deliver growth.

The Chamber’s patron’s scheme is aimed at businesses which want to take a leading role in the local business community. Chamber patrons are influential and prominent organisations which share the values that drive the Chamber forward.

Ian Borley, Senior Partner for the East Midlands at KPMG, said: “After being members of the East Midlands Chamber for many years, we are delighted to now become patrons. The region is a real breeding ground for business growth, with a leading position on many key UK industries such as life sciences and data, amongst numerous others.

“Investment in business is vital to the upward trend in the East Midland’s economy and we hope to play a part in that by offering our insight, support and advice to businesses across the region. Whether the business is a start-up, an SME or a multi-faceted national organisation, all play a role in developing the East Midlands as an economic powerhouse to rival our Southern or Northern cousins.”

Chamber Chief Executive George Cowcher said: “I am delighted to welcome KPMG on board as the Chamber’s latest patron.

“It is an established and extremely well-respected business with a global reach and a wealth of experience in helping businesses to prosper and grow.

“Chamber Patrons are a powerful force in influencing policy, driving economic growth and development and equipping smaller businesses with the knowledge and skills that are vital to their future.

“KPMG will bring to the Chamber skills and expertise to complement those of the other Chamber Patrons to create something which is, together, greater than the sum of its parts.”

Existing East Midlands Chamber patrons include DHL Express, East Midlands Airport, Experian, The Money Shop, Wilko, Caterpillar and, most recently, Santander.
