“The pledge of an additional £2bn on frontline NHS services in 2015-16, is an important step towards the £8bn figure that Simon Stevens has made clear is required. However more is needed, and similar progress needs to be achieved over consecutive years if the NHS is going to get onto a stable footing, which will be a challenge for the next parliamentary term.
“The £1bn one-off investment into GP facilities, funded by bank fines will help to create the facilities and environment that the NHS needs to deliver more care outside hospitals. If the NHS uses this funding wisely, it could act as the catalyst for changing the delivery of care by NHS England.”
