At the same time KPMG has appointed Joe Gallagher, current Head of Sectors, as Vice-Chair and Melanie Richards, Non-Executive Director, as Vice-Chair from within the firm. Richard joins on 12th May and the Vice-Chair roles will take effect from October.
KPMG has also confirmed that Dr Ashley Steel, Vice-Chair and Global Head of Transport, will retire in the summer.

Richard will sit on the UK executive committee and will be responsible for the firm’s ten specialist sector departments (such as Energy & Natural Resources and Industrials) which generated £441m in net sales for the last financial year across the UK.

Joe Gallagher held a range of international operational, commercial, business development and leadership roles within EMI Group, Mars Inc and J Sainsbury plc before joining KPMG in 2000. He currently leads KPMG’s relationships with communications and media clients such as BT Group, WPP and Everything Everywhere. He was appointed Head of Sectors by Simon Collins, when he was elected Chairman in 2012.
Melanie Richards, who has worked in the banking sector for 30 years, joined KPMG in 2000 as a Debt Advisory Partner from NatWest. Melanie is also a founding member of the 30% Club and has won awards such as Opportunity Now’s Champion Award for her work in embedding a diversity culture in the workplace. Melanie was elected to the KPMG Board as Non-Executive Director in 2012.
