KPMG’s Sha Ali picked up two trophies at the 2014 Management Consultancies Association Awards, held last night at London’s Park Plaza, in Westminster. After winning the title of Technology Consultant of the Year, Sha also received industry recognition as winner of The Times Award for Consultant of the Year.
Sha’s title of Consultant of the Year was won for devising a revolutionary new way to deal with customer claims, which has saved KPMG client RBS a huge amount of time and resources. His new approach has subsequently been submitted for what is KPMG’s second only ever patent application.
According to the judges, Sha’s creativity, team spirit and sheer persistence shone through, making him the stand-out candidate in what was a highly competitive group of candidates.
His colleague, Rob Hortopp, also received plaudits on the night, being highly commended in the category of ‘Performance Improvement Consultant of the Year’. He was recognised for outstanding project management, subtle communication skills and pioneering thought leadership to improve clients’ performance and raise KPMG’s profile as thought leaders.
In addition, KPMG was also highly commended in the ‘Performance Improvement in the Public Sector’ category for its work with University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust. The team was recognised for delivering a programme which significantly reduced waiting times in A&E and freed up hospital beds, resulting in a better ‘patient experience’, improved staff morale and a series of change programmes to further improve services.
Commenting on the wins, Michael Robinson, KPMG’s UK Head of Management Consulting, says: “To be recognised by your peers is a fantastic achievement as it endorses individual skills, the ability of our teams and is also testament to our strategy of delivering business transformation through technology. Industry recognition is a badge of honour as it sets the winners out from the crowd and creates a benchmark which colleagues and competitors must follow. That can only be a good thing for our profession.”
Sha Ali, principal advisor in KPMG’s Tech Solutions team, said: “I am delighted and hugely humbled to be recognised in this way. One award is exciting, but to walk away with two is something very special and neither would have been possible without the support of a great team. I’m particularly pleased as the awards show that businesses really do recognise that making use of the latest technology is not just about being first and fast to market; rather that, used well, it can make a real difference, transforming business and improving the customer experience.”
Now in their 17th year, the MCA Awards are the benchmark of quality within the industry, showing how clients and consultants can work together to achieve better results.
