Commenting on the Chancellor's decision to support regional airport capacity, Caroline Haynes, director in KPMG Management Consulting, says:
"It is good to see that the government is finally giving thought to Regional and City economies. Whilst the Budget may have been short on infrastructure announcements, the plans laid out for growing regional airport capacity is a helpful way to ensure that recovery is not restricted to limited pockets of the country, as is the outlined support for manufacturing.
"Yet, so much more could have been done. The Local Growth Fund pot of money remains smaller than originally envisioned and measures to force local authorities to use balance sheet assets to regenerate and reinvent City and Regional economies would have been helpful."
