Colin Williamson, Director of the Tax Centre of Excellence, said: “I am delighted that we have hit the double milestone of 100 employees and being on track to file 5,000 personal tax returns in our first self-assessment season since opening our doors on 1 July 2013."
Recruitment drive continues with a target of 180 employees by the middle of 2014.
As the deadline of 31 January approaches, KPMG announces that its Glasgow based Tax Centre of Excellence, created last summer to handle tax compliance work from the firm’s 22 offices, has reached a milestone of 100 employees and is on track to complete 5,000 self-assessment returns on behalf of clients in its first self-assessment season.
Colin Williamson, Director of the Tax Centre of Excellence, said: “I am delighted that we have hit the double milestone of 100 employees and being on track to file 5,000 personal tax returns in our first self-assessment season since opening our doors on 1 July 2013.
“We are still very much in a key recruitment phase and I’m very pleased that we are over half way through our recruitment target. We hope to have 180 employees in place by the middle of 2014 and still have many exciting roles to fill; from junior to senior roles across our corporate, personal and expat teams. We have formed a really strong team in a relatively short space of time, and they are all enthusiastic about the success we have had to date and the exciting future ahead.”
Jane McCormick, head of tax at KPMG in the UK, said: “Compliance is a huge part of our tax business. Tax is complicated and getting the tax returns right is enormously important. I am very proud of every one of our 100 employees at our new tax centre of excellence. It’s a great achievement by the team to have delivered as many as 5,000 returns in their first self-assessment season.”
