Performance reporting: An eye on the facts

Performance reporting: An eye on the facts

KPMG has collaborated with the ACCA for our second survey of finance professionals. The survey explores whether they believe the current set-up of their organisation is providing the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with the appropriate people, processes and technology to deliver effective and efficient Performance Reporting.

Performance reporting: An eye on the facts

Key highlights:

  • Almost 40% of Finance professionals believe decisions are still primarily based on ‘gut feel’.
  • The vast majority of Performance Reporting activities are currently completed locally, such as in the business units (BU). Some believe that to be more effective and efficient, more activities should be shifted away from the BU, in particular to a Captive Centre of Excellence
  • Over half of respondents, 56 percent, said their Finance team is perceived principally as gatekeepers of data, or providers of basic financial analysis at best
  • Only 30 percent have invested in a reporting tool which has delivered all expected benefits
  • Only 5 percent of reports are currently viewed in a tablet/mobile application.
