“Responsible tax advice for the common good”: an independent project supported by KPMG in the UK"
The debate on responsible behaviour, morals and ethics in relation to tax is at the forefront of the political and news agenda. Global, cross-border tax is complex and ultimately every citizen around the world is impacted by it. As one of the UK’s leading tax advisers we have a responsibility to contribute to that debate, but we want to go further than that, by bringing together a wide range of stakeholders with differing perspectives- including those whose views don’t necessarily align with our own.
For that reason we are pleased to support and sponsor an independent project curated by the think tank, CoVi on “Responsible Tax Advice for the Common Good”.
Since October 2014 the project has brought a broad coalition of voices and opinions together from over 170 individual stakeholders. These have included taxpayers, academia, media, government, politicians, NGOs and the KPMG community, to inform our thinking on what responsible tax behaviour looks like and what constitutes responsible tax advice for the common good in today’s world.
Discussions have taken place via a series of thematic roundtable events, and through an online platform, www.responsibletax.org.uk through which we share the learning and participation so far. Many stakeholders have submitted films and blogs that have been published on the forum from a wide range of viewpoints.
Please visit the site and join the debate.
