Media Tracker is a bi-annual report compiled with Markit which shows that the sector is on a high, but a softening approach to adspend is threatening the outlook.

Presenting our headline UK media sector tracker, providing fresh media sector insight, from the perspective of UK marketing executives and private sector media companies.  We draw upon the results of 1,500 UK households. llustrating not only, the fastest year of activity growth since 2007, but highlight a warning to the industry that the softening of adspend may threaten the future outlook. 

Key data revealed:

  • Overall business conditions across the UK media sector improved for a third successive calendar year
  • On a quarterly basis, the latest results are less upbeat and therefore sound a note of caution for the 2016 outlook
  • Despite reporting weak pay trends, the number of media/culture/entertainment employees reporting a rise in job security exceeded those suggesting a fall at the turn of the year
  • This was the first instance of rising job security among UK media sector employees since the index began in 2009
  • 2015 was the fastest calendar year of business activity for the media sector since 2007.
