UK Real Estate Autumn 2014

In the Autumn edition of the UK Real Estate Update we focus on the results of the first half of 2014. These suggest that the UK’s markets are continuing to strengthen and that in the face of ever-increasing competition for stock, investors are considering UK regional opportunities in addition to those beyond its borders in a bid to find value.

  • Transaction volumes remained robust throughout H1 of 2014 with total commercial real estate volume up by 29% year-on-year
  • Asian and Middle Eastern investors remain a key source of capital, but North American investors have dominated H1 making up 48% of cross-border capital sources
  • With the continued supply/demand imbalance for prime investment opportunities in the capital, and the strengthening of the peripheral European markets, there is still potential threat to London’s pole position for transaction volume in the continent
