Almudena Cossio

Almudena is an IFRS specialist who has spent the last few years specialising on the new accounting standards: IFRS 15 Revenue from Contracts with Customers and IFRS 16 Leases. She has authored many of KPMG’s global IFRS 16 publications such as First Impressions: IFRS 16 Leases and IFRS 16 Leases Transition Options and has also developed and instructed various IFRS 16 training courses, which have been distributed across the KPMG Global network.

Almudena is currently advising large listed companies in the UK and wider EU on the implementation of IFRS 15 and IFRS 16, primarily within the telecommunication, retail and energy industries. She previously completed two long term secondments, first to the Canadian audit practice where she gained extensive experience in the energy industry, and second to the KPMG International Standards Group where she monitored, reported and provided feedback to the International Accounting Standard Board (IASB) and other international standard setters and global regulatory bodies. Almudena initiated her career in the audit practice in Madrid, managing a number of large clients within the transportation and infrastructure sector.
