In early October, KPMG in Ukraine held a free seminar on the possibilities of using Malta by the Ukrainian business for structuring international trade and personal tax planning.
The workshop covered the following topics:
The speakers at the seminar were qualified tax consultants from KPMG Malta and experts of international tax at KPMG in Ukraine.
"Seminar on taxation in Malta caused a keen interest from the part of Ukrainian and international companies in Ukraine. We even had to conduct two seminars, instead of the planned one. Currently Malta is particularly interesting for Ukrainian business that wants to create an international trading company, as well as banks that offer services to high net worth individuals. In addition, we expect the ratification of the Convention for the avoidance of double taxation between Ukraine and Malta, which will make this a more attractive jurisdiction for the purposes of international holding and financial institutions, as well as the acquisition of tax residence of individuals”, - shared Yulia Nogovitsyna, Senior Manager of International Corporate Tax at KPMG in Ukraine.
For reference, Malta is a Member State that has established itself as a reliable and advanced center of international trade with low effective tax rate. In 2013, Ukraine signed the Convention for the Avoidance of Double Taxation with Malta.
