On 28 July KPMG in Ukraine held a round table for representatives of the Health Care Committee of the European Business Association dedicated to the introduction of VAT on supply and import of pharmaceuticals and medical products in Ukraine. This is a highly pressing issue for most of the companies of the pharmaceutical sector due to its significant implications for pharmaceutical business in Ukraine.

KPMG professionals – Inna Shershun, Alina Vasiurenko, Dmytro Bakumenko, Victor Shekera, Sergey Popov and Yuliya Nogovitsyna – spoke on practical aspects of introducing VAT on pharmaceuticals and medical products, associated customs regulations and relevant court practice. The event was concluded with a discussion on possible solutions of currently unresolved issues concerning the VAT treatment of the respective business transactions.

The round table continued the series of tax seminars held by KPMG this year: earlier, KPMG in Ukraine held several events dedicated to recent trends in tax dispute resolution for both the members of the American Chamber of Commerce and for pharmaceutical companies that are members of the European Business Association.
