On 15 July, professionals from the Customs Regulation Practice, Tax & Legal, KPMG in Ukraine, Vitaliy Naumenko and Dmytro Bakumenko delivered a presentation for members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine on the topic “Customs Value of Products: Key Issues and Development Prospects”. The participants were provided with a detailed analysis of Ukrainian legislation regarding the determination of the customs value and also an assessment of its compliance with international norms and rules. The effective work practices of the customs authorities to control the customs value of products were considered separately. Most of the questions raised with our professionals concerned primarily the procedure for confirming the customs value of products, the procedure for drafting documents for customs clearance and also the dispute resolution procedure for contested issues. KPMG’s professionals closed the presentation by considering forthcoming amendments to legislation regarding the determination of the customs value introduced by the draft new Customs Code of Ukraine, which was recently adopted in a first reading by the Parliament of Ukraine. Such events attract significant demand from members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, as KPMG professionals have many years of work experience in the customs authorities of Ukraine. This enables them to leverage in-depth insight of the work practices of the customs authorities when it comes to applying customs legislation for the benefit of our clients.
