What is the story behind the foundation of “KPMG Sound”?

Our KPMG Sound group was founded at an “Away Day” event which was organized nearly 3 years ago. Our story begins during this event organized by the Audit team in Cappadocia, when our drummer (Servet Gözel) and guitarist (Erdinç Deniz) spontaneously share a stage. After the enjoyable first performance of Servet and Erdinç, we started thinking why not form a band; and that’s how we got started on KPMG Sound!

In those days, KPMG was preparing for the new years party held every year. We took this opportunity to speed up our work and performed on stage for the first time as a band after building a repertoire in 3-4 weeks. When we appeared before our co-workers with a different role, they were taken over by a deep sense of ownership. Even though this project of ours didn’t start out in a planned way, it quickly became a part of numerous events thanks to the value placed on people and music at KPMG.

Would you share with us a unique memory from the events you have performed at?

We have taken part in numerous events, both in and outside of the company. One of our concerts in Küçükçiftlik Park was our first time performing for non-KPMG people. To be honest, this performance was sort of like a small evaluation test for us. Because when you perform for your co-workers, they tend to embrace you no matter what. But when you perform for people you don’t know, you get to evaluate your own performance. After the concert, we received excellent feedback on our music and performance. Thinking back on people’s comments and the new people we met, we can say that it has a special place in our lives.

What advantages does being a part of KPMG Sound have in and outside of work?

All of us carry on with our business lives in the company while trying to manage our social activities somehow. But I can say that creating a common working ground with your co-workers with a different concept, and presenting your works to many people you do or don’t know is an important factor that strengthens how you communicate with your environment.
