IFRS 15 - It's time to engage

21 October 2016, 9:00AM - 3:00PM, CET Ljubljana, Slovenia

The new standard provides a framework that replaces existing revenue recognition guidance in US GAAP and IFRS. It moves away from the industry and transaction specific requirements under US GAAP, which are also used by some IFRS prepareres in the absence of specific IFRS guidance.New qualitative and quantitative disclosure requirements aim to enable financial statement users to understand the nature, amount, timing and uncertainity of renue and cash flows arising from contracts with customers. Entities will apply a five-step model to determine when to recognise revenue, and at what amount. The model specifies that revnue should be recognised when (or as) an entity tranfers control of goods or services to a costumer at the amount to which the entity expects to be entitled. For some entities there may be little change in the timing and amount of revenue recognised. However, arriving at this conclusion will require and understanding of the new model and analysis of its application to particular transactions.
