Memories and contributions of the KPMG Alumni and existing staff who helped to build the firm to what it is now.
On 16 October this year, KPMG turns 75. Because of its status as one of Singapore’s Big Four professional services firm in the country, few might know of KPMG’s humble beginnings as Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co., established in 1941 with just one employee.
The modern KPMG as we know it was formed by four key figures – Piet Klynveld, William Peat, James Marwick and Dr Reinhard Goerdeler – who merged their individual companies in 1987 to form the KPMG network.
Many know of the KPMG’s current standings – KPMG Singapore audits 50 percent of the biggest Singapore-based international companies, and its tax advisory, transfer pricing and tax transactional services are ranked in the top Tier 1 category by tax publication International Tax Review. Our forensic restructuring, private equity and enterprise mergers and acquisitions practices stand among the leaders in the industry.
