Brexit would force UK property rethink

Over two-thirds of international real estate investors would invest less in the UK in the short term if it left the EU, according to a KPMG survey.

As well as the macro view behind the headline, some two-thirds of global real estate investors would personally cut back investments in UK property and property companies in the immediate aftermath of a ‘leave’ vote in the 23 June referendum, in order to avoid uncertainty around Britain’s economic path. That is the finding of a KPMG survey of investors at Cannes’ RE-Invest Summit at MIPIM 2016. However, respondents in general said they felt positive about their company’s own UK investments. In the longer run, only a third said their own organisation would be less likely to invest in UK property aafter a Brexit.
