KPMG announces the appointment of new Audit, Advisory and Tax & Legal partners.
Dmitry Garaev, Tax & Legal Partner, Corporate Tax, KPMG in Russia and the CIS
Dmitry graduated from Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation and holds a PhD in Economics.
Dmitry joined KPMG’s Tax & Legal team in 2017. Prior to this, he worked for another Big Four firm. Dmitry has a vast experience in providing tax advisory services to Russian and multinational companies. He advises clients representing both corporations and private equity funds across various sectors, including oil and gas, mining, construction and others.
Sergey Gasparyan, Audit Partner, KPMG in Ukraine
Sergey graduated from Kyiv National Economic University in Ukraine. He is a certified auditor, a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), and also has the auditor's certificate of Ukraine (Certificate A).
Sergey has been with KPMG since 2003, followed by a long-term secondment with KPMG's Singapore firm during 2010-2011. Sergey has a vast experience in private and public sector auditing of the financial statements prepared in accordance with IFRS, Accounting Regulations and US GAAP. His clients include companies representing consumer markets and industrial sectors, nonprofit organizations, as well as companies across the real estate and IT services. Sergey is now heading KPMG’s Consumer Markets and Nonprofit Operations practice in Ukraine.
Irina Gevorgyan, Advisory Partner, Deal Advisory, KPMG in Georgia
Irina graduated from Yerevan State University (Armenia) and completed MBA studies at IE Business School (Spain). She is a certified auditor of Armenia and Georgia, and also a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
She has been with KPMG since 2003. Irina has an extensive experience in advising clients on transactions and associated risks, she led due diligence projects for the largest energy, health service, banking and telecommunications companies in the region. Irina undertook audit engagements in accordance with the IFRS and US GAAP reporting framework. She has also worked in other KPMG offices throughout the world, including in London, where she was directly involved in projects with the Finance department.
Marianna Korneeva, Advisory Partner, Management Consulting, KPMG in Russia and the CIS
Marianna graduated from the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova, with a supplementary education at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business Executive Education, USA (Accelerated Development Program Certificate) and Stanford University, USA (Strategic Decision and Risk Management Certificate). Marianna is a certified expert in project management (PMP), and also a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
She has been with KPMG’s Management Consulting team since 2010. Marianna’s experience covers projects which come within operating model transformation, business process streamlining and reengineering, establishment of shared services centers (SSC) and cost optimization. Her clients comprise companies representing telecommunications and metallurgy sectors, agribusiness, nonprofit organizations, large holdings with diversified portfolios, mining and oil & gas industries.
Peter Korolev, Advisory Partner, Deal Advisory, KPMG in Russia and the CIS
Peter graduated from Moscow State University of Economics, Statistics and Informatics (MESI).
Peter joined KPMG in 2008. He has an extensive experience in strategy and M&A projects in Russia and abroad. Peter specializes in post-deal business integration and separation. His clients comprise major Russian and multinational companies in various sectors.
Alexey Maltsev, Advisory Partner, Global Strategy, KPMG in Russia and the CIS
Alexey graduated from Moscow State Social University (now Russian State Social University) and holds a PhD in Social Sciences.
Alexey has over 15 years of experience with roles in international FMCG companies and advisory assignments. He joined KPMG team in 2011. His main clients are major players in consumer markets and transportation industry, as well as investment funds. Alexey confines his primary focus to developing corporate and market strategies along with providing business restructuring services. He has successfully implemented strategy development and transformation projects in international markets.
Prior to joining KPMG, Alexey was a country manager of the market research company Ipsos across Russia and the CIS.
Alexander Merkel, Audit Partner, KPMG in Russia and the CIS
Alexander graduated from the University of Virginia. He is a certified Russian auditor and a US certified public accountant (CPA).
Alexander has over 15 years of experience working with Russian and international companies from various industries and has been Head of South Regional Center of KPMG since 2012. Alexander is responsible for the audit and interaction with private and public companies that prepare financial statements in accordance with various accounting standards (IFRS, RAP and US GAAP). He has an in-depth practical knowledge in advising companies on IFRS transition aspects and providing support in the IPO placement of bonds and shares on the recognized international and Russian stock exchanges. Alexander began his career with KPMG in the United States, where he spent three years actively participating in the audits of corporate financial statements prepared in accordance with US GAAP.
Egor Misiura, Advisory Partner, Forensic, KPMG in Russia and the CIS
Egor graduated from the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova. He is a certified Russian auditor, and also a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
He has been with KPMG since 2000. He worked in the Audit department, where he led audit engagements in Russian and international companies. In KPMG Forensic, which he joined in 2014, Egor is managing projects related to fraud investigation, corruption identification and prevention, as well as provides assistance during international trials and arbitration disputes as an expert witness in economic and financial matters. The extensive experience Egor has gained from these projects provides advanced skills for analyzing complex transactions and gathering evidence on fraud. His clients comprise companies from various sectors, including banking, construction, transport and logistics, energy and mining.
Dmitry Musatov, Advisory Partner, Deal Advisory, KPMG in Russia and the CIS
Dmitry graduated from the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management in Ukraine. He is a SIAA member (Self-Regulatory Interregional Association of Appraisers, Russia) with ACCA and ACA certification.
He joined KPMG’s Advisory team in 2012. Dmitry has an extensive track record of working in investment companies that buy/sell businesses (with a focus on agriculture, consumer goods and retail) in emerging markets, and also a previous experience of organizing the finance function for a large construction holding company in the CFO role. At KPMG he managed engagement teams when serving clients in such matters as acquisition, or business sale, financial modeling, business and asset valuation, business planning, impairment tests and other advisory projects.
Assel Urdabayeva, Audit Partner, KPMG in Kazakhstan and Central Asia
Assel graduated from Kazakh Economics University named after T. Ryskulov in Kazakhstan. A certified auditor with a certificate of professional accountant of the Republic of Kazakhstan, she is also a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
She has been with KPMG since 2007 with 11 years’ experience of auditing financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Assel is also engaged in advisory projects to introduce IFRS-compliant computerization of accounting systems and holds IFRS training events. Her clients comprise major Kazakh and international banks, investment funds, insurance and leasing companies, pension funds and credit institutions.естиционные фонды, страховые и лизинговые компании, пенсионные фонды и кредитные организации.
Elena Khobotova, Advisory Partner, Internal Audit, Risk & Compliance Services, KPMG in Russia and the CIS
Elena graduated from the Russian State University of Trade and Economics. She is a certified Russian auditor, and also a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
Elena joined KPMG in 2003. She has an extensive background in audit, risk management and business process reengineering. Prior to professional activity within IARCS group, Elena’s role was confined to auditing the financial statements prepared by oil & gas and energy companies. Elena’s clients include companies representing energy sector, consumer markets, metallurgy, mechanical engineering and telecommunications.
Timofey Khoroshev, Audit Partner, Information Risk Management, KPMG in Russia and the CIS
Timofey graduated from Moscow Aviation Institute majoring in Applied Mathematics and Financial Management.
He has been with KPMG since 2007. Prior to this, in the span of seven years he devoted his career to the creation of information systems as a developer, systems analyst, project and line manager in leading multinational companies.
Timofey’s track record includes advisory and audit projects in the area of IT management and efficiency improvements, IT risks and business continuity management. He led IT audits for more than 100 companies.
Timofey holds the following professional qualifications: Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified in Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT) and Project Management Professional (PMP).
Vitaly Yakovlev, Advisory Partner, Deal Advisory, KPMG in Russia and the CIS
Vitaly graduated from the Higher School of Economics (State University HSE) and holds a Master's degree in Finance from Humboldt University of Berlin. He is a SIAA member (Self-Regulatory Interregional Association of Appraisers, Russia) and a chartered appraiser (Russia).
Vitlaly has been with KPMG since 2007, followed by secondment to KPMG in the UK during 2010-2012. Vitaly has an extensive experience providing valuation, M&A support, investment appeal assessment and financial modeling services to major Russian and international companies in Russia, Kazakhstan, Georgia and Armenia. Currently, Vitaly advises clients on regulated activities, in particular, he is engaged in a tariff setting reform in the power transmission industry in Kazakhstan. His clients comprise major companies representing energy and utilities sector, telecommunications, transport and infrastructure.
