Hosted by KPMG’s Global Energy Institute, the Indonesia Business Club event was held at the prestigious SKYE Bar and Restaurant, Jakarta, attracting senior executives across Indonesia’s Energy & Natural Resources sector (ENR).
With government change complete, the energy spotlight is on Indonesia and has provoked considerable discussion and interest. This networking event provided a platform for industry leaders to share perspectives with their peers and included succinct presentations delivered by leaders in the ASEAN ENR practice.
Maximizing Opportunities in ASEAN
KPMG’s regional Head of ENR, Pek Hak Bin, provided an overview of ASEAN's evolving energy ecosystem. Alluding to colossal energy investment opportunities in one of the world's fastest growing energy markets, Mr Pek also outlined the complexity of the region. To assist ENR companies in overcoming the challenging environment; whilst simultaneously capitalising on opportunities, the expansion of KPMG's regional ENR capabilities were outlined. The launching of a dedicated Centre of Excellence and Global Energy Institute in Singapore, were highlighted as examples of KPMG's increasing sector focus in the region.
Aligning KPMG’s Advisory Practice to Indonesia’s Energy Agenda
Mark Godson, Head of ENR for KPMG Indonesia, provided insight on the current and future aspirations of Indonesia's ENR sector. With many of the attendees concerned by regulatory, fiscal and operational headwinds, Mr. Godson explained that ENR companies in Indonesia are at a cross-roads. While highlighting the scale of Indonesia's energy security dilemma, he surmised that the new government has a prime opportunity to maximize Indonesia’s huge ENR potential.
