Niculae Done, Partner of KPMG's Tax practice, has a remarkable experience in taxation, with a background of working in the Ministry of Public Finance of Romania as General Director, where he was responsible for the development of Romania's direct taxation legislation. He was also leader of the Romanian team involved in the negotiation of the double taxation treaties regarding corporate income and capital taxes. This gives a unique insight into tax problems and a detailed understanding of how specialist advice has to be relevant in such a way as to meet the highest professional standards and also the requirements of government. As a specialist in the fiscal doctrine, Niculae manages a wide range of projects, bringing consistency and clarity in an ever-changing tax environment in the context of the current Romanian legislation. Most of the projects he has been involved in are privatization, due diligence, restructuring and reorganization, including tax optimization as well as assistance during tax audits carried out by the tax authorities and subsequent filing of objections, tax litigation, identification of potential tax risks and of tax planning opportunities, as well as tax assistance for foreign investors.
