Transfer Pricing Training - Tax Authority

KPMG held an event for “Transfer Pricing in Egypt” on 23rd October 2016 at Fairmont Nile City, providing an overview of transfer pricing and its application in Egypt. Prestigious members of the Egyptian Tax Authority were invited, aiming to combine the local knowledge and experience of the authority with the international expertise of KPMG in the field of transfer pricing.

The event commenced with a speech by Mr. Mohamed Allam, the head of tax practice at KPMG Hazem Hassan followed by Mr. Amr Elmonayery, the deputy minister of finance, who both emphasized the importance of transfer pricing in Egypt, especially in light of income tax law no 90 of 2005. Capitalizing on KPMG’s extensive global network, the key speaker was Mr. Hasnain Shroff, a partner at KPMG India specialized in transfer pricing and his director Poonam Ghelani.

The key topics covered were:
• A brief background on Transfer Pricing;
• Determining the functional risk and asset analysis, including illustrations and case studies;
• Transfer Pricing audit triggers and controversies;
• Alternate dispute resolution mechanisms (advanced pricing agreements, dispute resolution panels); and
• Base erosion and profit sharing; overview and discussion on the action plans pertaining to Transfer Pricing.
