KPMG in Pakistan
Wahid is heading KPMG Pakistan's IT Advisory Services (ITAS) practice, which is part of KPMG’s Risk & Advisory Services (RAS). He is responsible for the development of the ITAS in KPMG Pakistan in the areas of IS Governance & Performance, Project Risk Management, Security, Privacy & Continuity, Business System Controls and IT Audit. He has carried out various IT Advisory assignments both in Pakistan and in the MESA region. He has led various advisory engagements for local and multinational clients covering the areas of IS Governance, GRC Technology and control integration, Information Protection and Business resilience, IT Internal Audit, emerging technology Risk services, Technology enablement review, assessment and implementing and program and project management.
Wahid has more than thirty years of experience in the IT industry covering information systems planning, system design, programming, system management, business software implementation, project management, computer auditing and IT security. The industries in which he has worked include government, financial institutions, information and entertainment, telecommunication and manufacturing companies.
Wahid is a strategy, risk management specialist and has led numerous such engagements around the MESA/ASPAC region, in countries such as Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Sri Lanka. He also has been involved in providing strategic and tactical planning, development, evaluation, and coordination of the information and technology systems for KPMG Indochina offices.
Wahid has also worked as a CIO for KPMG Thailand & Indochina region, where he was responsible for the setup of KPMG worldwide WAN/VPN for the Thai & Vietnam office, and later raised it to the highest security level allowing maximum access to global resources.
Prior to joining KPMG he worked as a VP Information technology and lead JDE system implementation in Shell.
Wahid is also the National IT Security Officer (NITSO) for KPMG Pakistan and Afghanistan. As a NITSO, he is responsible to the National CIO for establishing and operating an IT security organization which complies with KPMG’s IT security requirements and to the Global IT Security Officer for matters having an impact on global IT security.
Master in Applied Physics with Specialization in Digital Electronics.
