KPMG announces maturity assessment roadmap leveraging Microsoft services to help businesses meet the requirements of the EU General Data Protection Regulation

KPMG today announced an offering developed together with Microsoft to help companies prepare for and meet the requirements of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the landmark data privacy law - in force 25 May 2018 - that will apply to all organisations that process the personal data of citizens residing in EU regardless of their location.

The GDPR discovery and maturity assessment model helps clients meet the requirements of GDPR using a customised program of processes, procedures and technology capabilities. The model provides a high-level roadmap to help clients overcome identified compliance gaps backed by a portfolio of capabilities that combines KPMG’s cyber security, regulatory and industry experience with Microsoft’s market leading data management, governance, collaboration tools and the Microsoft Azure cloud platform.

“Any company that offers goods and services in the EU, regardless of where they are located and where they process personal data, must comply with GDPR,” said Greg Bell, KPMG Global Cyber Security Services Co-Leader and a partner with KPMG in the US. “And with the penalties for non-compliance potentially steep, companies should have a readiness program in place relatively quickly. This GDPR discovery and maturity assessment model can help clients build an approach that is designed to accelerate their security and data protection journey, whether in the cloud or on premise.”

Ann Johnson, Microsoft Worldwide Vice President, Enterprise and Cybersecurity said, “Navigating the complexity of GDPR to reach a level of maturity requires a well-defined approach, strong, specialist guidance and the right solutions. KPMG’s strengths in security risk, data privacy and regulatory experience in tandem with Microsoft technologies such as Microsoft 365, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Azure SQL Database, and Windows 10, can help companies chart the right course to compliance.”

In addition to service offerings for GDPR compliance, KPMG and Microsoft will work with companies with offerings to help clients’ improve their cyber defense posture such as Secure Collaboration, Digital Identity, Azure security, shadow IT, and analytics.
