The Future of Corporate Reporting

The release of the findings of “The Road Ahead”, KPMG’s global survey of corporate responsibility reporting, together with a New Zealand supplement.

2 November 2017, 8:00AM - 5:00PM, NZST

We were delighted to host a large group of senior executives and directors on 2 November for a panel discussion on the future of corporate reporting in New Zealand.

The cornerstone of the event was the release of the findings of “The Road Ahead”, KPMG’s global survey of corporate responsibility reporting, together with a New Zealand supplement which details the relevance to our local market.

This release coincided with the new NZX Corporate Governance Code which recommends all listed companies start reporting on their Environmental, Social and Economic performance, effective 1 October. While this change directly impacts all of New Zealand’s listed organisations, it is part of a broader shift in reporting, driven by investors, towards more holistic corporate reporting of a company’s true value. Companies are finding this new approach provides a great opportunity to connect with stakeholders and the broader market, enabling them to create long-term value and then tell a story that provides more detail than just financial performance.

Our panelists at the event included Hamish Macdonald (Head of Policy, NZX), Arti Prasad (Senior Investment Analyst, NZ Super Fund), Clement Chia (CFO, Sanford) and Julia Hoare (Independent Director) who shared their personal experiences and views on the subject of corporate reporting and how it can be used to enable further value creation. We invite you to download the global survey and the New Zealand supplement.

If you’d like to further discuss what the change means for your organisation, please get in touch with Simon Wilkins or Erica Miles.
