Joe has 15 years financial and management experience in both public practice and the public sector. Joe joined KPMG in 2015 after 5 years as the Director – Finance at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa. Along with Riria, he is co-responsible for the firm’s national Māori strategy, ensuring that KPMG’s engagement, relationship and contribution to the Māori economy both advances Māori aspirations and fuelling New Zealand’s prosperity. Joe draws on his many years of engagement with Māori and non-Māori to identify, build and deploy sustainable solutions. Joe has served on various governance and advisory boards including the National Hauora Coalition, Te Hotu Manawa Māori and Ngā Kaitatau Māori o Aotearoa. Joe is a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) with Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and a Chartered Public Finance Accountant (CPFA) with the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (UK).
