Bruce Bernacchi joined KPMG as a Partner in the Tax Division in January 2016. As a well-regarded tax practitioner, Bruce specialises in mergers and acquisitions, financial services and transfer pricing. He has particular expertise in international tax issues, including a familiarity with US international tax concepts and with the tax regimes of a number of countries in the Asia-Pacific region. In his role Bruce works with clients across a number of industries and brings a great mix of technical skills, commercial acumen and a focus on explaining complex tax issues in a clear and straightforward manner. Having spent a number of years in industry, Bruce understands the importance of delivering client service excellence and strives to achieve this with all of his clients. Bruce started his career at KPMG in 1995 where he spent the first seven years of his career, including three years at KPMG’s office in Melbourne. After quickly reaching a Senior Manager role with KPMG he moved on to Minter Ellison Rudd Watts, becoming a Tax Partner in 2004. He then spent 10 years in senior tax roles at GE, first as GE’s head of tax for New Zealand and then serving for seven years as GE’s treasury tax counsel for Asia. Outside of works Bruce enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, travelling, playing squash and has a keen and active interest in New Zealand politics.
