Kiwa is KPMG's network for Māori and Pasifika colleagues to connect and support one another during our careers at KPMG.

The name Kiwa is taken from the ingoa Māori, Te-Moana-nui-a-Kiwa, which is the name for the Pacific Ocean. Kiwa represents and celebrates the diversity of this great ocean and its many nations and cultures it brings to our workplace. Nau mai, whakatau mai ra e te whānau whanui o Te Moana nui a Kiwa, mauri ora.

Kiwa is committed to growing our Māori and Pasifika cultural capability and competency, sharing knowledge and celebrating diversity. We aim to build a workforce that reflects the communities we serve, as well as create a workplace that is supportive and welcoming for all.

Kiwa Mentoring Programme

The Kiwa mentoring programme is designed for Māori and Pasifika tertiary students interested in a corporate career. The programme runs once a year, typically aligned with the second semester.

Throughout the programme, we host various workshops to help students feel confident as Māori and Pasifika in corporate spaces, navigate the recruitment process, network with KPMG people across all divisions, and reflect on their strengths and growth areas.

Doing work that matters

We are involved in mahi that impact Māori and Pasifika communities, whether by working with the government, iwi organisations or the corporates.

Some of our Kiwa team worked closely with Te Puni Kōkiri to create a tailored business assessment and grant management solution called “Te Tomokanga” – a gateway to transforming, uplifting and creating better outcomes for all.

Te Puni Kōkiri engaged KPMG in New Zealand because of our deep expertise in Government and Te Ao Māori (the Māori worldview) and our digital services and Microsoft capabilities.

Belonging

Our commitment to creating a safe environment is built on trust, where you can bring your true authentic selves to work and feel valued for our unique contributions and perspectives.

Kei tēnā, kei tēnā, kei tēnā anō. Tōna ake āhua, Tōna ake mauri, Tōna ake mana. Each and every one of us has our own uniqueness, life essence and presence.

Our people love to celebrate all our cultures within Te-Moana-nui-a-Kiwa, our language, dance and traditions with each other and the firm.

Thrive and grow

We want everyone to have the opportunity to develop and grow their career here at KPMG. We have a culture of high performance, so we have lots of resources to enable you to be a high performer while also developing your skills and navigating your career.

Māori and Pasifika can have different requirements, so our Kiwa network will help connect you to the necessary tools, resources and people. This could include learning in a safe environment such as a Marae and leaning on your Kiwa peers for ongoing support.
