KPMG Whistleblowing Service

The KPMG Whistleblowing service is an independent whistleblowing channel that enables stakeholders (employees, clients, business partners, etc.) of our clients report suspected or actual incidents of fraud, misconduct and unethical activities occurring within the client’s business environment, thus enabling our clients to take appropriate action to address whistleblower’s concern and ultimately reduce instances of fraud, misconduct and unethical activities in their business environment.

Independent and objective: The KPMG Ethics Line is independent of its clients and therefore objective.

Professional: Calls are answered by trained personnel who explore concerns and obtain the relevant facts for further action by the appropriate authority.

Anonymous: You are not required to disclose your identity and the KPMG facility is not enabled to view the whistleblower’s number.

Confidential: All communication between KPMG Ethics Line and you will be treated with utmost confidentiality.

Timely: A report detailing the nature of the call is sent to the appropriate authority within 24 hours or as soon as possible.

Secure: The facilities are secure and not accessible to unauthorized persons.


What is Whistleblowing?

•  Whistleblowing is the exposure of any activity or wrongdoing, carried out by an individual or group of     individuals that is deemed illegal or unacceptable in an organization.

•  Whistleblowing is the ability of stakeholders to report misconduct anonymously and confidentially, if they so     desire. According to the requirement of Securities and Exchange Commission, public companies are     required to establish an adequate whistleblowing mechanism which enables stakeholders to report     unethical behaviours in  the business environment

What types of Complaint count as Whistleblowing?

Whistleblowers are encouraged to use the KPMG Whistleblowing service to report unethical activities
such as:

  • Bribery and Corruption 
  • Theft
  • Financial Fraud
  • Regulatory Violation 
  • Damage to company property 
  • Nepotism / Discrimination 
  • Misrepresentation of Data
  • Procurement and Tendering Fraud
  • Asset Misappropriation 
  • Other Unethical Activities
  • Harrasment

Pleas note that this list is not exhaustive as whistleblowers are encouraged to
report any misconduct or unethical activity within the business environment. 

How KPMG Ethics Line Works

  • The whistleblower reaches out to KPMG Ethics Line via our toll-free telephone lines, email or webpage form
  • KPMG Ethics Line receives complaint from whistleblower and obtains relevant information from the whistleblower.
  • KPMG Ethics Line generates a report from the details of the complaint and communicates this to the right level of management and/or board of directors of the client for further action (depending on the nature of complaint). The reports sent from the KPMG Ethics Line which is carefully worded to remove any piece of information that can reveal the identity of the whistleblower. 
  • The client provides feedback to KPMG Ethics line based on its investigations on the complaint
  • KPMG provides feedback to the complaint (Where Possible)

  • Place of Occurence 
  • How the Incident Occured
  • Values Involved - Monetrary Value
  • Any other useful information

What to Expect After Reporting

  • After making a report via telephone or email, the whistleblower is provided with a unique reference number for ease of identification during subsequent interactions with KPMG Ethics Line concerning the reported complaint
  • Where the complaint is raised via e-mail, KPMG Ethics Line will communicate the client's feedback as soon as it recieves one.
  • KPMG Ethics Line cannot contact Whistleblowers who make complaints via telephone as we have no access to whistleblowers numbers. Therefore such Complainants are expected to call the KPMG Ethics Line to obtain feedback on their complaints
