Across the KPMG network, we understand and value the benefits of a foundation of education and lifelong learning. It can be the key to unlocking potential and to help people out of a life in poverty. That is why lifelong learning and opportunity is a central tenet of our citizenship strategy. Through our ongoing collaborations and community projects around education, we are helping us to develop the leaders we need for the future. 

KPMG/UKF Back to School Program 2016

KPMG partnered with United for Kids Foundation (UKF), a non-profit organization, for the 2016 edition of the foundation’s “Back to School Program”, which held on Thursday, 13 October 2016.

The yearly event by UKF reaches out to less privileged children in our community. As a means of giving back to the society, KPMG staff volunteers visited Wesley & Wright School as well as Ijebutedo Primary School, Somolu, Lagos to distribute new school bags containing learning materials to children at the beginning of the school session. 

Audit Inter-School Debate, Short Story Competition

The Firm’s Audit Division organized an Inter-school debate for secondary schools students, with an objective to stimulate educational development for the students. In 2016, the competition was expended from the format of the prior year to include more schools, with 11 participating schools.

5. Immaculate Heart Comprehensive High School
6. Aunty Ayo International School
7. Victoria Island Secondary School
8. Methodist Girls’ High School

11. Atlantic Hall School
 

Other Education Projects

Day Waterman College
KPMG provides scholarships to some indigent students.

Corona School
KPMG employees provide ad-hoc assistance to the school. Firm employees also serve on the Trust/Finance Committee and as Head/Member of funding Committee for new schools.

Teach for Nigeria
Firm employees play a supporting partner role, as classroom facilitators for selected schools.

Bethesda Child Support
KPMG employee donations go towards sponsoring some children to school at Ilado High School, Osborne, Ikoyi. With KPMG volunteers on the Board, some firm personnel also commit volunteer hours to coach senior students for their exams.
