KPMG in Malaysia
Datuk Johan Idris is the Managing Partner of KPMG in Malaysia and the immediate past President of Malaysian Institute of Accountants (“MIA”). He is presently the Chairman of MIA sub-committee on Integrated Reporting Committee.
KPMG has made progress in several areas particularly in branding and championing Diversity & Inclusion, and also positioning KPMG as a Purpose led organisation. In 2015, KPMG recorded a significant advancement in Malaysia’s 100 Leading Graduate Employers to be recognized by graduates as the Top 10 graduate employers in Malaysia. The Firm has also been making steady improvements in other brand surveys like Graduan & Universum. Datuk Johan won CEO Champion Awards 2015 by TalentCorp Malaysia and Towers Watson that promotes Life at Work awards for Diversity and Inclusion.
Apart from being at the forefront of KPMG’s initiatives, Datuk Johan has also been strongly advocating for the Diversity & Inclusion agenda. He’s been instrumental in supporting the elevation of 2 female Partners to leadership positions in the firm and ASPAC region. As a result, KPMG has the very first female Partner in Charge for Advisory and the very first female Partner with multiple roles as the Head of ASPAC Cyber Security, CIO & Head of Information Technology Advisory. This has certainly positioned us as a Firm who walks the talk on championing Diversity & Inclusion especially with a demographic profile comprising of 30% female Partners and 60% female Managers. He has also been fervent in this endeavor to support many initiatives proposed by the People, Performance and Culture team. Among the bolder steps he undertook was to agree on a 1 week firm closure to advocate work life balance for all staffs. This unprecedented move which commenced last year will be continued in 2016 and has even been a positive experience to the Firm.
Datuk Johan has many years of experience in the areas of audit, due diligence & advisory as well as IPOs. In his previous role, he is the Head of Audit in KPMG Malaysia.
He’s a project leader of an accounting standard of the Malaysian Accounting Standards Board and presently a Board member of the Malaysian Professional Accountancy Centre (MyPAC), a company that promotes professional accountancy center of excellence. Datuk Johan is a panel member of INCEIF, supported by Bank Negara Malaysia and he was also a member of the Financial Reporting Foundation. He is also deeply committed to sustainability and corporate responsibility and continuously drives positive changes in the workplace and communities that we live in.
