KPMG in Malta
Pierre joined KPMG in 1980 and initially worked in a number of functions within the firm particularly in audit where he also led a number of audit engagements in Northern Italy whilst on secondment there. He later joined Ernst & Young in Tripoli, Libya where he undertook audit and advisory engagements mostly for oil sector clients. In 1996 Pierre re-joined KPMG and in 1997 he was admitted partner and entrusted with the responsibility to re-structure and develop the firm’s International Business division. Pierre is currently a partner in Tax Services and he also heads the Corporate Services division that is principally responsible for the implementation of tax structuring engagements for international clients and the continued support of such structures. Pierre has advised and assisted international clients particularly on tax matters relating to Maltese holding, group finance, intellectual property and international trading company structures. He has also advised clients on Maltese ship and yacht-owning structures as well as on tonnage taxes and the registration of such vessels under the Maltese maritime flag. For a number of years Pierre was a member of the taxation committee of the Institute of Financial Services Practitioners and he is the author of the Malta chapters of the Global Corporate and Individual Tax Handbooks published by the International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation.
