KPMG has today announced that its PSF has achieved the highest standard for digitization and conservation in Luxembourg by obtaining PSDC-C and PSDC-D status. The company is one of only six service providers to receive the certification since applications opened in early 2016.

The PSDC-status is conferred upon companies who embed integrity, security, and confidentiality into their digitization and archiving processes in accordance with the strict laws laid out by the Luxembourgish government (Minister of Economy) and supervised by the quality standards agency (ILNAS). Electronic documents handled by PSDC-certified companies benefit from the same legal status as the original paper documents, including in a court of law.

Jean-Luc Brach, who leads the PSF & Technology services of KPMG Luxembourg, commented: “We see an increasing number of companies moving towards a fully digitalized organization. These frontrunners embrace the “paperless office” concept by drastically reducing, or even eradicating, physical archives. Rather than digitizing at any cost, our clients – be they financial or non-financial, based in Luxembourg or abroad – opt for smart conservation methods built on quality and security: digitization you can trust. KPMG already helps a diverse portfolio of clients in this domain. Receiving the PSDC certification is an important milestone, marking a new phase in our pursuit of outstanding digital services that are the clear choice for clients. The KPMG approach allows our clients to improve their operations and reduce the cost of handling and storing documents, while also meeting compliance and regulatory requirements.”

In addition to its e-archiving solution, KPMG provides consulting services (lean management, process automation, robotics, « low code » development platforms) allowing for the implementation of optimized processes within very short deadlines. KPMG also works with selected PSF partners to provide physical archiving, therefore acting as a one-stop-shop.

The PSDC status was created by the Luxembourg government in 2015, as part of a wider drive to set the gold standard for the legal value of digital archives and thus establish Luxembourg as a centre of excellence worldwide. The standards agency, ILNAS, has recently set up a new working group (“ILNAS TC 106 “Archivage électronique”) in August 2018 to further develop legislation. Experts from KPMG Luxembourg will be present to share their expertise in the field.
