Helping regulated industries such as financial services, healthcare/life sciences and the public sector with managing an accelerated path to cloud migration and transformation

KPMG International today announced a global alliance with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to provide businesses with services and solutions to help them accelerate transformation in the cloud.

An Advanced Consulting Partner in the AWS Partner Network (APN), KPMG provides cloud advisory services and solutions for strategy, migration, risk management, and regulation and compliance to assist organizations in highly-regulated industries such as financial services, healthcare/ life sciences and the public sector, as well as less regulated sectors, with managing an accelerated path to the cloud.

KPMG’s portfolio of digital and cloud integration capabilities and services help businesses take advantage of and generate value from the cloud to help enable a successful enterprise cloud strategy implementation and migration. KPMG’s services include cloud operating model design, suitability assessment, migration evaluation, system architecture and integration, and security process enablement to help companies address all aspects of digitizing critical, often highly complex, business processes in the cloud.

Among the KPMG business process offerings running on AWS available today are the grid computing and client due diligence solutions.

The grid computing solution provides organizations, such as those in financial services or healthcare, with on-demand access to computing capacity, providing a cost-effective way to conduct complex analyses of large data sets without the need for on-premises data centers or infrastructure. The scalable solution, running on AWS, is deployed with KPMG’s Risk Controls and Compliance framework which provides capabilities in risk assessment, architectural design, scientific research and pre- and post-production tasks.

Client due diligence is a ‘know-your-customer’ solution and serves clients operating in complex regulatory environments, such as financial services or healthcare. The solution helps businesses reduce risk, manage compliance and provide greater transparency in their policies around financial crime or anti-money laundering, for example, with traceable audit trails that can verify compliance with due diligence procedures and standards.

By working with AWS, KPMG is well-placed among the leading professional services firms, having alliances with all of the main global cloud providers. KPMG’s alliance community of global cloud providers gives the ability to KPMG teams to serve as an independent advisor to businesses, offering an extensive portfolio of solutions and infrastructures to support single- or multi-cloud transformation strategies.

Anuar Nurakhmetov, Senior Consultant, Management and Risk Consulting, KPMG in Kazakhstan and Central Asia, commented: “An alliance between KPMG and AWS, a major player in the market of cloud computing, will enable companies operating in the healthcare/life sciences, financial and public sectors to gain access to advanced cloud technologies for their digital transformation. It is important to note that such a global alliance is essential for Kazakhstan too, as – according to the survey conducted jointly by Zerde and KPMG at the end of 2017 – 45% of local respondents intend to integrate cloud-based solutions to improve their infrastructure. By using cloud technologies, companies may reduce their IT and IC expenses by 10-20%. Application of such technologies is also of top priority in the context of a service information model of the public bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In consideration of the latest trends of open data development globally, we believe that in the nearest 5-8 years businesses and the public sector may transfer half of their services to a cloud-based model. That said, sufficient care shall be given to the robust architecture design and information security.”
