KPMG in Kazakhstan and Central Asia hosted Conference on Compliance and Ethics on 5 October in Atyrau. The Conference was opened by the Managing Partner of KPMG in Kazakhstan and Central Asia - Assel Khairova. The discussion was led by experts from KPMG – Igor Lebedev, Partner, Forensic, KPMG in Russia, along with invited speakers Kathi White, Internal Controls & Compliance Manager at Tengizshevroil, Frank Orellana, Sr. Compliance Counsel at Chevron Corporation, Elchin Babanli, Lead Compliance Counsel at North Caspian Operating Company, and was focus on international and Kazakh anti-corruption legislation, Ethics & Compliance policies and procedures, what to do and what to avoid during tender procedures; hot lines and whistleblowing (e.g., let us know if our staff does something wrong); the role of companies and their suppliers in anti-bribery compliance and other related topics. The presentations were followed by the panel discussion with Igor Lebedev, Frank Orellana, Kathi White, Matt Droz, Managing Counsel, Ethics & Compliance at NCOC, Ivan Papkov, Legal Counsel KZU at Schlumberger, and Olivia Allison, Director, Forensic, KPMG Kiev acting as the moderator. According to the Conference participants the idea to gather companies to share experience and latest news in compliance and ethics is very up to date and timely taking into account the current situation in the market and possible impacts.
