This course provides an overview of privacy concepts and regulations, and the resulting impact of privacy on both individuals and businesses. We will discuss the pending Cayman Data Protection Law which is effective January 1, 2019 and its impacts on Cayman business privacy responsibilities.

 

Learning objectives

In this workshop, you will learn how to:

  • Understand the history of privacy, from a US, EU and global perspective
  • Understand the key terms and principles related to privacy
  • Understand the key requirements of the Cayman Data Protection Law

As a result, you will be able to:

  • Define what is privacy and why it is important
  • Articulate the difference between privacy and security, and their interconnections
  • Describe the risks of data privacy
