Heath and Innovation

We believe that a nation’s health is an inextricable/inseparable part of its prosperity. At IDAS, we partner with governments, development partners, local and international NGOs to support and promote delivery of health services through health systems strengthening to support greater and equitable access to health services by men, women and children in pursuit of wellbeing and productivity. We do this through the provision of our core fund management services ,provision of local fund agent services as well as financial and process assessment for large health funds.

Our Programmes

1. County Innovation Challenge Fund

We are implementing the County Innovation Challenge Fund (CICF), a three-year DFID grant fund under the Maternal and New-born Health Improvement (MANI) implemented by a consortium with Options Consultancy Services Ltd, UK. Through the £16 Million challenge fund, we are providing funding to innovative projects, offering local solutions to reducing maternal and new-born mortality in six Kenyan counties of Bungoma, Garissa, Homa Bay, Kakamega, Turkana and Nairobi City County. We are also supporting scale up of projects that have demonstrated clear impact in reducing maternal and newborn mortality.

2. Local Fund Agent (LFA) of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS,                       Tuberculosis and Malaria

Globally, KPMG is the Local Fund Agent (LFA) of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in 12 countries globally. We work closely with the Global Fund country teams to evaluate and monitor activities before, during and after the implementation of a grant.

This includes assessing the capacity of the nominated Principal Recipient - their previous track record, internal controls and systems, proposals and budgets, progress and appropriateness of use of provided funds. In Africa, we are providing LFA services in Sudan, South Africa, and South Sudan and hold a number of contracts to provide multi-county services on the continent.

3. Performance of Assessment services for President’s Emergency           Fund for Aids Relief (PEPFAR)

The U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) is a cornerstone initiative by the U.S. Government, which seeks to save the lives of those suffering from HIV/AIDS globally. This $48 billion component of the U.S. global health focuses on country-led, sustainable programs that address HIV/AIDS within the broader health and development context.

We have been contracted to undertake a performance assessment of the effectiveness of financial and system internal controls and to recommend process and control improvements; thereby ensuring commodities reach the people in need and mitigate the risk of local and/or transcontinental diversion.
