Eric comes from a Law and Audit background. He began as a Systems and
Processes assurance associate and steadily grew, along the way becoming fund manager of the multi-donor Somalia Reconstruction Fund, and assisting in the design and setup of the InfoDev World Bank Climate Innovation Centre (CIC) in Kenya. Through his 12 year career, Eric has worked in all six IDAS focus sectors, delivering institutional strengthening and fund management services to programmes related to governance, education, climate smart agriculture and public financial management.
Eric is keen on ensuring that development finance is well utilized and are able to create maximum impact. He engages with various governments in the East African region because believes that they have a huge part to play in societal development. He has also experienced first-hand, the financing challenges in Sub-Saharan Africa and for this reason, he has invested a lot of time working with development partners such as the United Nations, World Bank, European Union, DFID and the Rockefeller Foundation.
Now Eric leads a team of more than 20 staff as the Country Director of the KPMG IDAS practice in Tanzania. There he provides operational leadership and strategic risk management advice to the Accountability in Tanzania programme and the Human Development Innovation Fund. The two programmes funded by the UK government are worth a combined value of £60 million and are delivering significant impact to over 22 million Tanzanians. He is also the Engagement Director overseeing delivery of KPMG framework contracts with Swedis International Development Cooperation Agency, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and Royal Norwegian Embassy in Tanzania.
When asked why he chose to specialise in institutional capacity building and
fund management he says, “I have dedicated my career to working with impact investors, development partners and governments so as to facilitate smarter investment and adoption of strong financial governance systems. My goal is to see advanced communities.”
