Judith Erone

Director, KPMG IDAS Africa Practice Uganda

KPMG East Africa

Judith Erone is the Director in charge of conducting verifications, assessments and monitoring assignments at the IDAS Uganda practice in Uganda. She is a Chartered Certified Accountant by profession with membership of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda and a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, and also holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. Although she worked as an auditor for the first six years of her career, Judith has spent the past ten years advising organisations on risk management and analysis, as well as carrying out fiduciary risk assessments, due diligence assessments, institutional assessments, independent verifications and monitoring, capacity building and designing and developing internal organisational controls.

Judith is passionate about family, and she loves adventure, travel and sports. At work, her thrill seeking nature is tempered by motivation to see good intentions in the aid sector balanced by proper risk management, so that development funds reach the people it targets. She helps implementing organisations to develop their management capacity and to build their financial management, procurement and human resource systems so that the funds they receive are effectively utilised. Donor organisations also need to assess whether their programmes are on track to achieve their goals and Judith provides them with compliance reviews and financial assessment services to make this possible.

For Judith, giving organisations a fair chance to prove their development objectives, not only ensures that funders receive value for their money, but it establishes critical transparency and accountability in the sector. It provides these organisations and their funders valuable lessons on how to improve on the projects they implement to the advantage of their beneficiaries.
On working at KPMG, she says, “KPMG IDAS has a great team of diverse and focused professionals, and it is a place where creativity is encouraged; passion is commonplace; and collegiality is unifying. I feel the work I do every day makes a difference to the people we live around and our communities”. On maintaining a fulfilling career and family life, she says, “I strive to create a nurturing and supportive environment of unconditional love and respect; and live each day with integrity, intention, selflessness, and with a thirst for adventure. I spend time on those things that matter most in my life (family being at the epitome); and at work I focus on those activities that are more important to achieve better long term results.”
