Bas has 15 years’ progressively senior international development consulting, training and management experience. Bas lived in Tanzania for eight years and managed large scale projects, helping public and private sector organizations in the development of lobby and advocacy strategies in areas ranging from natural resource management to women’s health rights, to (women’s and youth’s) access to business finance, market access and fair business environment.

With in-depth understanding of CSO issues and strategies, Bas has developed a wide reputation and network among CSOs in Eastern and Southern Africa from his delivery of organisational development and capacity development assignments to some 40 Tanzanian CSOs over the last five years. In addition to overseeing the design and delivery of organisational and capacity development assignments, he has carried out over 100 training courses per year in Outcome Mapping and Results Based Management.

For 10 years Bas he facilitated organizational change processes with many different organisations, ranging from small grassroots Masai organizations to The African Court for Peoples and Human Rights, The East African Community and UN Agencies. It is this experience that he brings to the Accountability in Tanzania programme where he is the Team lead, specifically setting strategic direction of the governance programme and ensuring the effective and efficient mobilization of resources to achieve AcT objectives.
