The journey of supply chains in India presenting a reality check in terms of ‘here’ to ‘where’ and ‘how’ (current state to future state)
Stakeholder expectations are evolving dramatically on the back of advancement in technology and digitisation. As the environment evolves, harnessing new business models and operating models enabled with digitisation is key to increasing value and driving sustainable growth. Supply chain is at a cross road, where it has to evolve from its traditional focus of transactional processing and driving efficiency to a leadership role that can make organisations ready for the digital world.
Various supply chain leaders of manufacturing sectors like automotive, auto ancillaries, consumer goods and durables, pharmaceuticals and engineering have expressed their views through an online survey on the current supply chain challenges, key focus areas and future aspirations. Among several interesting findings it was found that supply chain leaders rank ‘plan’ as one of their top two challenges, 80 per cent believe customer centricity is going to be the future theme of supply chain. Legecy mindset, resistance to change and limited management bandwidth were two major roadblocks in enabling supply chain transformation.
