Three main amendments are required in current thinking to transform this state of affair. First, mapping measures to outcomes of care that matter most to patients, rather then process outcomes that matter to providers. Second, integrating quality measurement to proper cost measurement. Finally, leverage patient as data source and other form of existing data, instead of capturing new information, to help form strategy. The report ‘Next generation care: Helping create value-based healthcare organisations’, aims to help our readers rethink the ‘value’ of healthcare and pave way for them to create a value-based healthcare organisation.
