The Managing Partner of KPMG, Shaun Murphy, today 3 December announced the election of his successor Seamus Hand who will take up the role as Managing Partner in May 2019.

Murphy was elected Managing Partner in 2012 and re-elected in 2015. During his successful six-year leadership term, KPMG increased revenues by almost 60% and employee numbers by 50% to almost 3,000 today - reflecting the firm‘s very strong performance. KPMG has successfully come through a period of change over the last six years and is now the number one professional services firm in Ireland by a significant margin. Murphy is currently the Lead Director of the KPMG Global Board, having been elected to that position by the members of the Global Board in 2015 and re-elected in 2018.

Seamus Hand was elected Partner in 2002 and has worked with major clients across the Financial Services market place. Seamus has specialised in the Aircraft Finance; Asset Management and Banking sectors and has played a key role in the development of KPMG’s Tax practice.

Commenting on his successor, Shaun said ‘I would like to congratulate Seamus on his election. Seamus has the experience, expertise and the personal qualities to successfully lead the outstanding professionals in KPMG. He, together with all of KPMG’s Partners, is committed to building on the firm’s strengths and continuing to provide world class service to our clients. I look forward to working closely with Seamus over the next five months to provide for a seamless transition’.

Speaking after his election as Managing Partner, Seamus said ‘Shaun has very successfully led KPMG through a period of huge change for the Irish economy whilst strengthening our market position. The skills and commitment of our people are fundamental to our success and I look forward to working with all my colleagues in further enhancing the market leading services we provide to our clients.’
