The award for “Audit Innovation of the Year” recognizes KPMG for its ‘Lean in Audit’ approach, which applies the widely used Lean business improvement methodologies to the financial statement audit.
KPMG firms are introducing Lean methodologies into audits across the global member firm network, including in Australia, U.S., Canada, and the Netherlands, and the response from organizations has been overwhelmingly positive.
“We are delighted that the IAB has recognized our Lean in Audit approach,” said Larry Bradley, KPMG Global Head of Audit. “We think it is an example of genuine innovation that strengthens audit quality and thereby benefits organizations and ultimately their stakeholders.”
Citing KPMG’s “strong commitment to running a sustainable business,” the award recognizes the global network’s success in meeting emissions reduction targets as well as for significant investment to support communities across KPMG member firms. IAB highlighted KPMG’s collaboration with Enactus, which spans more than 30 countries, enabling students to make a difference in their communities while developing skills to become responsible business leaders.

For a second consecutive year, KPMG International received the Social Media Networking award. IAB noted KPMG’s significant growth in its social media engagement across channels (www.kpmg.com/socialmedia). It also pointed to the continued growth and enhancement of KPMG’s WEFLIVE service (www.WEFLIVE.com), which for a third year captured in real-time the Twitter conversations from delegates attending the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland. For 2014, the WEFLIVE service was enhanced with improved filtering, search, and data visualization features.
