START in association with KPMG will showcase 150 of the world’s highest potential young companies at this year’s Web Summit. As part of the association, KPMG also supports the ESB Spark of Genius Awards. The award is a chance for the most promising and high-potential start-ups to pitch to a distinguished panel of judges that includes investors, media and industry heavyweights.
The first round of the ESB Spark of Genius Awards took place on Wednesday, 17 September. Thirty start-ups pitched their ideas to a judging panel which included David O’Kelly from KPMG; Niamh Bushnell, Dublin Commissioner for Start-ups; John McKiernan, Business Development at ESB; and Mary Moloney from CoderDojo Foundation.
TenderScout, Restored Hearing and Love & Robots have won a place in the START programme and made it through to the next stage which will take place at the Web Summit in Dublin from 4 – 6 November, where they will vie for a €25,000 cash prize.
