KPMG has announced it has renewed its global sponsorship agreement with Paul Dunne, winner of the 2017 British Masters. Dunne is one of Ireland’s top globally-ranked golfers and achieved a 16th place finish on the Race to Dubai.
Speaking at the announcement of KPMG’s continued sponsorship for a two year period, Managing Partner of KPMG in Ireland said “Paul Dunne has shown exceptional golfing ability in his career to date and our passion for investing in young Irish talent is reflected in our continued support of Paul. We look forward to our ongoing partnership and we wish Paul our very best for 2018 and in the years ahead.”
Welcoming the sponsorship renewal as he gears up to play in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, Paul said “I’m delighted to continue my great relationship with KPMG as I compete internationally on the European and PGA TOURs. It is an honour to be a KPMG ambassador and I look forward to continuing to be part of ‘TeamKPMG’ alongside my fellow KPMG ambassadors around the globe: Phil Mickelson, Maverick McNealy, Stacy Lewis, Mariah Stackhouse, Olafia Kristinsdóttir, and Klara Spilkova.”
Our sponsorship of Paul confirms our commitment to investing in and supporting young Irish talent.
In 2017, Paul won his maiden European Tour title at the British Masters following a spectacular final round 61 at Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Since turning professional in 2015, Paul has made an impressive debut in the golfing world. In his first professional event, he led the Dunhill Links in 2015 and in 2016 earned a top 10 finish on the European Tour at the JoBurg Open as well as finishing T13 in his PGA TOUR debut at the 2016 Farmers Insurance Open.
Paul came to prominence at the 2015 Open Championship where, playing as an amateur, he was tied for the lead after three rounds - the first amateur in 88 years to lead the Open after 54 holes. He went on to represent Great Britain and Ireland in the Walker Cup, helping them to a win over the USA. Paul earned his European Tour Card and spot in the 2016 Race to Dubai in the final stages of Qualifying School in November 2015. He played college golf at University of Alabama at Birmingham and as a junior, he was named the 2014 Conference USA Golfer of the Year. As a senior, he finished fifth in the individual competition at the 2015 NCAA Division Men's Golf Championship.
Before becoming one of the top emerging young players in the world, Paul graduated with a degree in Business Finance from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, USA.
As a KPMG brand ambassador, Paul Dunne joins the ranks of five-time Major Champion Phil Mickelson and two-time LPGA Major Champion Stacy Lewis. Like his fellow ambassadors, Dunne displays the KPMG logo on the front of his cap.
Shaun Murphy, KPMG Managing Partner in Ireland says: "Paul Dunne is a tremendous young golfer. Our sponsorship with Paul reflects our passion for investing in young Irish talent. We applaud his commitment and skill and look forward to working with Paul in 2018 and beyond."
