KPMG Greece with a long experience in providing exclusive services to insurance companies and with the aim for a qualitative study of the Greek private insurance industry, has carried out, for the fourth consecutive year, an analysis of the financial statements in a sample of 20 private insurance companies for the year ended 31 December 2013.
The Analysis includes the calculation of a number of important financial ratios relating to the insurance market, which are of help in the understanding of the financial position of insurance companies in Greece.
The companies selected are active mainly in the sectors of General Insurance, while part of them have production in Life as well and constitute approximately the 80% and 40% of General and Life market respectively in terms of written premiums.
The Analysis is based on both multiyear and stratified data in predetermined bands from published financial information providing a reliable and easy-to-use information for the review of the financial position of individual units (with appropriate grouping), and the whole Industry too. The ratios are selected based on their relevance to the insurance industry and refer to modern assessment methods.
